chatGPT removes our brains
I changed my mind on this post. see.
While chatbots are great and incredible at giving us answers, they are leading to us letting go of our brains.
What makes us smart and competent at something?
Knowing what to do obviously.
How do we get competent/smart at something?
We run into a problems we cannot solve and struggle with them long enough that the solution has stuck to our brain.
What do we do now when we have a difficult problem?
We ask chatGPT.
What does that do to our brains?
Since we haven't spent time struggling with the problem, the solution won't stick to our brains.
What does this lead to?
We becoming more reliant on GPTs and probably at some point having brain computer interfaces.
Why is it scary?
When our only competent thinking comes from external sources, it's really easy to turn off your "brain" if you are not fitting to the values of the company/government it was created by.
